Candid Group, Inc. d/b/a Candid Health (“Candid”, “we” or “us”) is committed to protecting your privacy. All visitors to our website (joincandidhealth.com) should consult our Terms and Conditions before using this website or Candid’s services.

Candid has created this privacy policy to explain its practices with respect to the collection and disclosure of information from this website, the Candid medical billing platform and any other online service that links to this privacy policy. Please read this privacy policy carefully.

How We Collect Your Personal Information

We may collect personal information about you from a variety of sources:

  • From Customers: For example, we collect personal information from you when you set up a Customer account, interact with us regarding your Customer account, start, receive, or discontinue medical billing services, for Customer billing and payment. We enter into a service agreements and Business Associate Agreements (collectively, “Customer Agreements”) with our health care provider and other customers that use our medical billing platform (“Customers”) that governs medical claims and other information entered into the platform. This Privacy Policy supplements the privacy protections included in our Customer Agreements. If you provide personal information to us as a representative of a Customer or as a patient of a Customer (or a patient of a Customer’s customer), we will comply with the Customer Agreement if there is a conflict between this Privacy Policy and the Customer Agreement.
  • From You: If you visit our website on your own behalf and not as patient or Customer representative, then we may collect information from you. For example, we collect information from prospective customers who contact our sales team through our website.
  • From Service Providers and other Third Parties: We work with and receive personal information from third parties such as insurance companies, service providers, vendors, and contractors.
  • From Your Use of Our Website: We collect information about your visits and use of our website, including information through cookies.

What Personal Information We Collect

We may collect the following categories of personal information about you:

  • Identifiers, such as your name, postal address, email address, account username, IP address, phone number, or other similar unique identifiers. We use this information to provide you or our Customer with which you are associated with our services, maintain your account, operate our business, and to otherwise communicate with you. We may provide this information to service providers and contractors, or to other third parties as required by law.
  • Medical and Insurance-related Information. Our Customers may provide us with information about your medical insurance, your medical conditions, and your medical treatments in order to facilitate insurance payments for your care.  If you are a patient of a health care provider associated with a Customer, this Privacy Policy does not govern our use of Protected Health Information subject to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 and its implementing regulations (collectively, “HIPAA”)provided to us by you or your Providers. Our use of HIPAA-regulated information is governed by the Customer Agreement and HIPAA. Your health care provider’s collection, use, disclosure, and transfer of Protected Health Information is governed, in turn, by your provider’s terms and conditions and privacy practices between you and your provider. Please submit all requests and questions related to your Protected Health Information directly to your provider.
  • Professional Information, including information relating to your role as are presentative or agent of a Customer or business, such as your work title and contact information. We use this to conduct business with you or your employer and provide you with services and otherwise communicate with you. We may provide this information to service providers and contractors or with other third parties as required by law.
  • Internet and Other Electronic Activity Information, such as your browsing history. We may provide this information to service providers, contractors or to other third parties as required by law. We may collect the following internet and other electronic activity data:

         Your Visits to Candid's Website: we collect information about visits to our website, such as the number of visitors and the number of users that click on certain links or use certain services.

         Log Data: we receive information that is automatically recorded by our servers when you visit our website, including your Internet Protocol (“IP”) Address, device identifier and web browser type and version.

Managing Cookies

When you visit or use our website, our server may create cookies, which are small text files that a website can send to your internet browser and may be stored in your browser or elsewhere on your computer. Candid uses cookies on our website and online services. We use cookies to evaluate website usage, provide services to you, and to offer programs and/or services that you may be interested in.

  • Provide our medical billing services to a Customer with which you are associated or provide services or products to you.
  • Communicate with you regarding our services and other products or services that may be of interest to you or the Customer with which you are associated.
  • Comply with a valid warrant, subpoena, or court order, or exercise or defend legal claims or otherwise comply with our legal obligations.
  • Comply with a request or order from other local, state or federal governmental agencies with legal authority to obtain the personal information from Candid.
  • Develop and implement marketing, education and outreach plans to improve the services and products we provide to our Customers.
  • Protect the safety and security of our Customers, visitors, employees and contractors by collecting and reviewing personal information to protect against fraud, other crimes and threats to safety.
  • For any other business or lawful purpose reasonably anticipated within the context of Candid’s relationship with you.
  • For any purpose for which we obtained your consent.

How We Disclose Personal Information

We may disclose personal information in the following ways:

  • At Your Choice: You may authorize other companies or persons to receive your personal information from Candid.
  • To Our Service Providers and Contractors: We may disclose personal information to service providers and contractors that provide services and support to us. We contractually require service providers and contractors acting on Candid’s behalf to take reasonable steps to protect personal information and to not use personal information for any purpose other than that for which it was given to the service provider or contractor.
  • To Regulatory Authorities: We may disclose personal information federal, state, or local agencies as required by applicable law.
  • To Third Parties to Fulfill Legal Obligations: From time to time, we may disclose personal information to other parties as required pursuant to a valid legal warrant, subpoena, court order, or other legal or regulatory mandate, or as necessary for Candid to defend to assert legal claims.
  • To Potential Business Partners. We may disclose or transfer information in connection with, or during negotiations of, any merger, sale of company assets, financing, or acquisition of all or a portion of our business to another company.
  • To Other Parties: From time to time, we may disclose personal information to parties such as law enforcement or other government agencies when we, in good faith, believe you or others are acting unlawfully, when we believe it is necessary or appropriate to satisfy any law, regulation or other governmental request, to operate our business properly, to protect or defend our rights or the rights or well-being of our users, and when we believe disclosure is necessary or appropriate to protect the health and safety of our employees, other consumers, and the general public.

Candid does not sell the personal information that we collect. Candid may share aggregated or de-identified data and information derived from personal information with other entities for the purpose of performing activities that may help Candid provide and improve its services.

Keeping Your Information Safe

Candid takes reasonable security measures to protect against the loss or misuse of information under its control. Although we will do our best to protect your information, transmission of information to and from Candid is at your own risk and no method of data transfer over the internet is 100% secure.

Managing Your Information

If you have a Customer account on our website, we store the information that you provide in your user account. You can review, modify, or delete the personal information attached to your Customer account at any time by logging into your account on our website.

Note to Residents of California

California Civil Code Section 1798.83, also known as the “Shine The Light” law, permits our users who are California residents to request and obtain from us, once a year and free of charge, information about categories of personal information (if any) we disclosed to third parties for direct marketing purposes and the names and addresses of all third parties with which we shared personal information in the immediately preceding calendar year. If you are a California resident and would like to make such a request, please submit your request in writing to us using the contact information provided below. However, please note, we do not disclose personal information to third parties for any third party’s marketing purposes.

At present, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) does not apply to Candid. If that were to change in the future, we will update this privacy policy.

Note to Residents of Nevada

If you are a Nevada resident, you have the right to opt out of the sale of certain personal information, including your name and mailing address, to third parties. If you are a Nevada resident and would like to make such a request, please submit your request in writing to us using the contact information provided below.  However, please note, we do not disclose personal information to third parties for any marketing purposes.

Where We Store Personal Information

Candid’s website and services are intended for residents of the United States. However, if you are located outside of the United States, please be aware that information we collect through our website and services will be transferred to and processed in the United States. By using the website and services or by voluntarily providing your information to us, you consent to the transfer, processing, and storage of your information in the United States.

Personal Information of Minors

Our website is not intended for use by minors, and Candid does not knowingly collect, maintain, or process personal information submitted online by minors. If we obtain actual knowledge that we have collected information from someone under the age of 18 from our website, we will delete that information.  

Do-Not Track Signals

Web browsers and other technologies you may use to access Candid site or services may include a Do-Not-Track (“DNT”)feature or setting you can activate to signal your privacy preference not to have data about your online browsing activities monitored and collected. At this stage no uniform technology standard for recognizing and implementing DNT signals has been finalized. As such, we do not currently respond to DNT browser signals or any other mechanism that automatically communicates your choice not to be tracked online.

Candid’s website and services may contain links to other websites (“Third-Party Websites”) as well as articles, photographs, text, graphics, pictures, designs, music, sound, video, information, applications, software, and other content or items belonging to or originating from third parties (“Third-Party Content”).  Such Third-Party Websites and Third-Party Content are not monitored, or checked for accuracy, appropriateness, or completeness by us, and we are not responsible for any Third-Party Websites or Third-Party Content.  Inclusion of, linking to, or permitting the use or installation of any Third-Party Websites or any Third-Party Content does not imply approval or endorsement thereof by us. If you decide to leave Candid website or services and access the Third-Party Websites or to use or install any Third-Party Content, you do so at your own risk.
